Ed White

Associate Professor

Ed WhiteEd White received his MA from the University of Vermont in 1990 and his PhD in English from Cornell University in 1998. He taught at Louisiana State University for six years, and joined the UF faculty in 2005.

He is the author of The Backcountry and the City: Colonization and Conflict in Early America (U Minnesota Press, 2005), and various articles on the literary genres of colonization, early American nationalism, conspiracy theory, and problems of early US literary history. He is the co-editor, most recently, of Beyond Douglass: New Perspectives on Early African-American Literature (Bucknell University Press) and of a new edition of Hugh Henry Brackinridge’s 1792–1815 novel Modern Chivalry (Hackett Press).
