Sid DobrinPositioned within the field of composition and rhetoric, Dobrin’s research focuses on three distinct but overlapping subjects: the ecological properties of writing, including questions of oceanic criticism; the relationship between writing and emerging technologies, including questions of contemporary visual/screen culture; and disciplinary/institutional critique regarding composition studies. Dobrin is also Director of the Trace Innovation Initiative, a research hub that studies emerging writing technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications, comic forms as scholarship, writing ecology, and other cool stuff.

Dobrin’s most recent publications include the edited collection Digital Environments (Routledge, 2017), the co-edited collection (with Kyle Jensen) Abducting Writing Studies (Southern Illinois UP, 2016), and the edited collection Writing Posthumanism, Posthuman Writing (Parlor, 2015). His latest monograph Gone. Fishing. a book about the future of the world’s oceans will be published later this year by Texas A&M University Press. His current book projects include Blue Ecocriticism, which is under review at Routledge.
